Did the Indian Mutiny transform India under British? 11.11.17
Once the Indian Mutiny was over most aspects of life in India changed majorly, but some stayed the same. On the whole the military became nearly entirely British run and so did the political state of India.
After the Indian, mutiny many changes were made to the military in India. For instance the number of British officers in the Indian army increased and Indian regiments were prevented from having artillery. The British took precautions so that there would be no risk of another Indian mutiny, therefore they did not give guns to any Indians. To further sojourn the possibility of another mutiny, the British disbanded those in the military who rebelled during the mutiny, and replaced them with soldiers from countries that were loyal to Britain. Overall the British massively changed the military and left India with less power and authority over the military.
Additionally once the Indian mutiny had ended the government and law system changed to follow more British ways. For instance the governance of India act 1858 officially transferred the east India companies authority in India to queen victoria and the British government, in result of this the East India Company court system also changed into a new British system.
