Disney, a corporation who has a reputation of manufacturing incredible films, and who surpasses those expectations. Disney is the leader of the film industry, a company’s whose name almost every child in the Northern Hemisphere has heard of. Does no one wonder about what it takes to make such a large and prominent company? Does no one want to know what obstacles it faced, what it had to overcome, and what is next for the company? The story of Disney is an impressive one, a tale of a young cartoonist doing what he loved and making other people happy in the processes. A tale of what Disney had to do to make it big and what lead an unknown animator from Illinois to creating the biggest children’s movie company ever.

In 1929, Disney created Silly Symphonies, which featured Mickey's newly created friends, including Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto. One of the most popular cartoons, Flowers and Trees, was the first to be produced in color and to win an Oscar. In 1933, The Three Little Pigs and its title song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" became a theme for the country in the midst of the Great Depression. During the next decade, Disney would release five full-length films, Snow White, Fantasia, Pinocchio. Dumbo, and Bambi.
In December 1939, Disney opened a new headquarters in Burbank. A setback for the company occurred in 1941, however, when there was a strike by Disney animators. Many of them resigned, and it would be years before the company fully recovered. But by the 1950’s, Disney was back on track to being the top. July 17, 1955, Disneyland opens in Anaheim California.
On December 15th, 1966, Walt Disney, the visionary who pioneered children’s movie and cartoons, died, at the age of 65. But Disney continued on, and barely five years later Walt Disney World Resort opens with Magic Kingdom and two hotels near Orlando, Florida. The next big step was the first Disney Store, which opens on March 28, 1987, in Glendale California. After that achievement, Disney moved on from animations to live plays- the first Disney Broadway show, Beauty and the Beast, plays on April 18, 1994. And in 1995, Disney produced a contact with Pixar after manufacturing Toy Story. Disney continues there rampage of cartoons and animations by starting their own TV show, the Disney Channel. Disney begins helping the earth by starting a department called Disney Earth. Disney even goes and purchases Marvel Entertainment, a studio that is responsible for the wildly popular Avengers. And by December 2012, Walt Disney buys Lucasfilms, a global entertainment company responsible for the legendary Star Wars franchise.
Disney is the global animation company whose influence has stretched helping Earth to Broadway shows. Disney has plans with Pixar for movies planned out as far as 2018 and hopes to continue its plans for helping the planet. Disney was a small cartoonist company that has exploded and expanded to reach the edges of its industry and beyond.
