This experiment was performed twelve times, on three subjects, over a period of 4-6 weeks. The first subject was a six-year-old boy named Gideon (results are shown in Figs.1-4). His initial blood pressure was 92/53 mmHg; this stayed consistent throughout the entire experiment. The first genre of music that was tested was rock music (Fall Out Boy: My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark). The first time the experiment was performed, his blood pressure was 98/55 mmHg, the second time it was 99/56 mmHg, the third time it was 99/55 mmHg, and the fourth time it was 98/56 mmHg. The second genre of music that was tested was country music (Carrie Underwood ft. Sons of Sylvia: What Can I Say?). During the first trial, his blood pressure was 91/53 mmHg, the second time it was 92/54 mmHg, the third time it was 91/52 mmHg, and the fourth time it was 92/53 mmHg.
The third genre was pop music (Kelly Clarkson: Alone). The first time, his blood pressure was 95/53 mmHg. It was 94/55 mmHg the second time, 98/57 mmHg the third time, and 96/56 mmHg the fourth time. The fourth genre was alternative music (Coldplay ft. Rihanna: Princess of China). The first blood pressure measure was 93/52 mmHg. The second reading was 90/52 mmHg, the third was 97/57 mmHg, and the fourth was 94/55 mmHg. The fifth genre was electronic music (Swedish House Mafia ft. John Martin: Save the World). The first blood pressure reading was 98/55 mmHg. The second was 99/56 mmHg, the third was 96/56 mmHg, and the fourth was 97/56 mmHg.
The sixth genre was R&B (Bruno Mars: Young Girls). The first and second readings were 96/54 mmHg. The third was 98/57 mmHg and the fourth was 97/56 mmHg. The seventh genre was Pop Rock (The Script: Moon Boots). The first reading was 98/55 mmHg, the second was 90/52 mmHg, the third was 99/54 mmHg, and the fourth was 97/53 mmHg. The eighth genre was Indie Rock (Fun.: Some Nights). The first reading was 93/52 mmHg, the second was 90/52 mmHg, the third was 98/56 mmHg, and the fourth was 94/55 mmHg. The ninth genre was Hard Rock and Heavy Metal (Evanescence ft. Paul McCoy: Bring Me Back to Life). The first reading was 98/55 mmHg, the second was 99/56 mmHg, the third was 99/57 mmHg, and the fourth was 98/56 mmHg. The final genre was Alternative Rock (Imagine Dragons: America). Interestingly enough, his blood pressure for this genre stayed consistent the entire time, it was 96/54 mmHg.
The second portion of this experiment was performed on a twelve year old girl named Julie (results are shown in Figs. 5-8).Her initial blood pressure reading also stayed consistent throughout the entire experiment, reading 120/79 mmHg.
