Teaching and learning is an ongoing process. Research is a powerful tool for helping and guiding the teachers to improve their teaching practices (Mutch, 2005). Research helps the teachers to understand various strategies and help them to practice those strategies for the benefit of children (Rafanello, 2009). Thus research is beneficial for students as well.
Research gives educators and policymakers essential knowledge thus helps them to make sound decisions for the benefit of young children and families (Mutch, 2005). Research provides all the required information which helps the policymakers to get enough evidence on the topic that help them in decision making (Rafanello, 2009).
Research encourages the educators to think critically and look at different perspectives of a situation. On reflecting, the teacher gets a proper overview of the situation and it enhances their understanding and knowledge. This therefore leads to professional development (Brookfield, n.d.)
Early childhood research defines high quality standards of the profession. It ensures that the practitioners do ‘best practices’. Thus, research contributes to high quality practice (Rafanello, 2009).
