EXECUTIVE SUMMARYOver the last decade, economic and technological advances have created a period of intense globalization. The use of electronic commerce has been expected to spread rapidly around the world with the growth of the Internet; a single world market is emerging in which the opportunities for global business are unforeseeable. Noted as a killer application, researchers believe that the power of e-commerce will destroy old industries and recreate new ones; redefine new markets and transform relationships between business partners, competitors and customers.Within this report, I discuss Canada's current position in regards to information technology and their adoption of electronic commerce. Canadian industries are explored (manufacturing, resource-based and online pharmaceuticals), providing tangible evidence of the impact the Internet and e-commerce has on globalization.
