An organization is a social system created to achieve certain established objectives. It has an official form or structure that facilitates effective and efficient internal coordination and be capable to react to the outside environment. This research study will monitor the effectiveness of two distinct non-profit sectors (Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services and Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, OAESV) to conclude the outcome evaluation of effectiveness.
Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence (OAESV) is a 501© (3) non-profit organization. A group of solicitous citizens in a small community of Ohio, known as the Steering Council decided to form this rape crisis organization. OAESV is finance by state and federal grants along with public contributions. With hard work and dedication the Steering Council established a viable, effective, and all-encompassing statewide sexual assault alliance. OAESV covers a population of 390,000 individuals. OAESV has five fulltime personnel and twelve board of directors. The board members are from the following areas: law professors, Secretary of Executive Committee, teacher, rape survivors, former military judge, and financial advisor. The mission of OAESV is to work to eliminate all forms of sexual violence and to advocate for the rights and needs of survivors and co-survivors of sexual violence (OAESV, n.d.).
Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services is a 501© (3) non-profit organization that has been serving in Hardin County for ten years. It receives major funding from several grants and is part of Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs and Kentucky Association of Child Advocacy Centers (Berry, 2014). Silverleaf is utilized as a joined Rape Crisis and Child Advocacy Center covering eight counties in the Lincoln Trail District Area of Kentucky and serving a population around 272,000 individuals. Silverleaf has eight full-time personnel and nine board members. The board members have associations in the following areas: former social worker, licensed therapists, facility, and success coach (Berry, 2013). Silverleaf’s mission: “It is our mission to promote the health and well-being of our communities by overcoming the impact and prevalence of sexual trauma through service, education, and leadership” (Silverleaf, n.d.) This is cultivated through the delivery of a wide variety of services to victims and community affiliates, including emergency counseling, healing, advocacy, support, referrals/resources, consultation, and education (Siverleaf, n.d.).
Every non-profit should emphasis on the importance of the internal environment within the organization. If an organization is not well systematized to support the employees and the community, it can hinder the functioning of the day-to-day operations-as well as- limit the effectiveness of an organization. Conversely, a well-arranged internal environment in an organization will effectively succeed in supporting employees and the community because it generates fewer complications and creates a climate beneficial to efficiency.
It appears as if a new internal environment has perhaps enhanced Silverleaf’s organization. Silverleaf is in the process of...
