Effective Teaching Techniques
Taking notes, creating presentations, doing worksheets, group activities, writing essays, and even taking tests are all methods of learning. These methods all do the same thing, but require the student to apply his or her knowledge in a different way. In schools today, there are several different strategies in the teaching and learning method.
Every student is unique in their own individual way; Therefore, they each prefer to learn with a strategy that is similar to the type of person they are. For example, if one recommends taking notes to intake knowledge, they are most likely reliable and can remember what they are taught with out hesitation. When taking notes, the student first hears the information being said then translates it into their own thoughts and copies it down. When the information is tested at a later date, the student can recall their own writing and interpretation of the lesson.
Another way for the student to use information they know is to create a presentation. If a student likes doing presentations for their fellow classmates, that student is most likely organized and confident in the material. When making a presentation, the presenter, or student, will process the information they already know into a lively slideshow or diagram to interest their audience. Pictures can be used to give further understanding of the topic. While showing their work, it gives the other students an opportunity to learn information about the topic that they may have not understood when they teacher was talking about it. Students understand each other more than they understand their teacher so there is a possibility that they can connect with this new material on a different level.
