The open casket funeral ignited a civil rights movement. Many people considered this racist, because Emmett was just talking to a white women but she told her husband that he was flirting. Then the two white men kidnapped and beat Emmett Till harder than they would any white men. People were very motivated by this case.

The trial of Emmett Till wasn’t very fair either. “Black and white descended upon the tiny delta town.” (EmmettTillMurder) Many people came to see this trial because in many eyes this had a great deal with racism in many was that offended some people at this trial. Some came because they still believed in segregation and thought the killing was justice. “The men were tried for murder, but an all-white, male jury acquitted them.”(Bio.com) The two white killers had the advantage in this trial because the white jury probably still was partly racist.
