Charlie woke up on one morning from a rough sleep, feeling like he did last night, not knowing where he fitted in the world. Everything was changing around him, the technology was getting more advanced, the music had more meaning and fashion started to kick in. It was a dark and cloudy Monday morning in Sydney and Charlie was getting ready for school, when he sat down on the edge of his single bed with his covers untucked and half on the bed and half on the fall, Charlie started putting on his school socks. Charlie dressed like the hippies of the 60’s in his tie-dyed t-shirts and bell bottoms. The bright bold outfits that the teenagers were seen as very daring for young men as opposed to previous generations. Charlies parents were against him buying tie-dyed t-shirts and bell bottoms clothes also Charlies parents didn’t like it when he wore any type of clothes that they would wear when they were his age. Charlie said back to his parents that “this is the fashion of my generation”. “You would know because you didn’t grown up in the generation, things had changed drastically since you were young, This is my generation”. Charlie headed up to his room and sat at the end of his bed which still had the sheets untucked and half on the bed and half on the gound. Charlie was trying to figure out why his parents were trying to stop him from being a teenager of the 60”s or make decisions for himself about his own life, “ where they trying to stop me from making the same desertions that they did, and trying to stop me in following in his generation”.

Charlie knew now that they were trying to help him but at the time he just wanted his parents to leave him alone. In their generation wearing bright clothes would have been seen as stupid and no one would have thought to wear anything like that because that wasn’t their generation. Charlie put on his music on and turned it up so loud that it made his bedroom shake. He knew that his parents didn’t like when he did this but Charlie did to tell him parents that this is how I was meant to be, this is what the teenagers of the 60’s listen to and this is what we were, it may be different to when you were younger but just because it is different you don’t have to make me not enjoy my life and how I was meant to live it. “Charlie turn off your music” his mother yelled out to him, Charlie yelled back “Why don’t you fade away” and...
