Probidad Académica
Según la IBO (Organización del Bachillerato Internacional, según sus siglas en inglés), la probidad académica es un conjunto de virtudes y habilidades que ayudan al desarrollo de la integridad personal. A lo largo de la historia, llegan momentos en la carrera estudiantil de la vasta mayoría de los jóvenes en los que no es poco común que surjan casos donde la probidad académica se deja atrás por motivos que varían de caso en caso; entre estos motivos se encuentra la presión de grupo, la pereza o simples malentendidos de las instrucciones presentadas. Por esta razón, muchos jóvenes terminan cayendo en un ciclo vicioso y hasta adictivo de copia, trampa en exámenes y plagio que puede llegar a perjudicar tanto su desempeño escolar como su capacidad de investigación en general, pues logran conocer lo conveniente que es simplemente copiar y pegar información ajena, a diferencia de hacer los trabajos desde cero con esfuerzo propio. Este fenómeno se observó la semana pasada con las estudiantes de décimo primer grado que cursan Psicología en La Floresta, con una investigación sobre casos del Nivel de Análisis Sociocultural. Es claro que, al no darle la importancia que merece la probidad académica, se verán afectadas negativamente sus calificaciones, calidad de trabajos de investigación o también, como con el caso de las estudiantes de décimo primer grado, tendrán consecuencias, como lo es este ensayo. Esta consecuencia tiene como fin mostrar la importancia de la probidad académica por medio de un ensayo de 1500 palabras para que lo ocurrido nunca vuelva a repetirse, por lo menos con esta clase.
Como se mencionó anteriormente, existe una correlación positiva entre cuánta importancia se le da a la probidad académica y la calidad del desempeño escolar de los estudiantes. Al no respetar la probidad académica, tiende a tomarse un camino más inmoral hacia el éxito, ya que se cae en estrategias deshonestas como la copia y el plagio para salir adelante en pruebas y tareas. En el momento, los estudiantes pueden no notar las verdaderas consecuencias a las que se están aproximando si copian, debido a que no logran ver los efectos a largo plazo, como una capacidad de investigación más desarrollada o la satisfacción del trabajo sincero, por enfocarse en el beneficio personal que obtendrá: una calificación más alta sin la necesidad de dedicar tanto esfuerzo o tiempo para alcanzarla. Pero esto puede ser peligroso para los estudiantes, no solo en la vida escolar sino en las decisiones que pueden llegar a tomar después. La copia es un robo de trabajo por el que alguien más se esforzó. Puede que al no ser algo material no lo tomaron en cuenta como robo, pero lo es, y al desensibilizarse de esta manera ante este tipo de acciones, puede que en algún punto de su vida se enfrente ante un robo más grande o de más valor y decida hacerlo pues no le verá tanta importancia.
