Sports medicine is not all about the athletes that get hurt as most people stereotype it to be. They help any person of any age regain mobility in any extremity, such as an arm or leg, that has gone limp or after an extensive surgery that requires physical movement. They have various stations that deal with the upper body and lower body.
Each machine in the sports medicine room is sued to help the patient out. The therapists find and make a schedule according to their illness or disability. The disabilities range from broken fingers to knee or hip replacements. Each week they meet up with their therapist to work on those things. They will have to make a choice as to whether they will try their best to get better.
In this picture, the physical therapist is demonstrating to her patient how to use the equipment that is placed down. The green piece of equipment is used to mimic little bumps to act as obstacles. The patient would try to lift up their leg to get over the obstacles. The patient will do a certain amount of reps on an exercise. It depends on their ability to do it. Patients with a slight imbalance or problem will have a hard time trying to do this. They encourage the patient to lift their legs and get over. The physical therapist encourages them to do it without touching the railings. The therapist gently cheers them on until all the reps are done.
The physical therapist and rehabilitation workers are great people who want to help their patients get back on their feet. They are nice and fun to be around.

They use a sonogram that shoots out sonic waves into a patient’s body that would bounce of certain parts or organs of the body. The sonic wave would then produce a picture or image on the screen to see. They mostly use sonograms in obstetrics and gynecology, but it is also used for cardiology and urinology. The ultrasound scan is used to detect problems in the liver, heart, kidney or the abdomen. On a sonogram, the higher the frequency the better the picture quality would be. Even though the quality is better the skin does absorb it faster so it does not penetrate the skin as deep.
