Ever since the 2nd century BCE humans have used animals to experiment on, this is good because by testing on animals less human lives are risked and we learn more about what factors affect animals, and us it is when animals are tested on without the proper precautions that this becomes unacceptable. One of the animals that if too often used in animal testing is the rabbit, rabbis are so often used because they are mild-tempered and easy to handle. Rabbits are used to test cosmetics, dishwashing liquid, drain cleaner, and other substances to view the effect of eye irritancy, the substances are dripped into the rabbit’s eyes. This is just one of the ways that animals are mistreated by animals testing. Rabbits are not the only ones to suffer from this; cats, dogs, pigs, primates, rats and mice also suffer from animals testing. Animal testing has the potential to do a lot of great things but when placed in the wrong hands it can harm the life of hundreds of thousands of helpless animals.
One of the main reason to stop animal testing is because 92 percent of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they are too dangerous or don’t work. So basically helpless animal’s lives are put in danger so no reason. Another big reason for why animal resting is harming animals is that animals such as mice, rats, birds, reptiles and amphibians are exempted from the minimal protections under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The reason scientist use animals such as mice, rats and birds is because since they are nit protected by the Animal welfare act they do not have to provide forms of anesthesia for the animals so the whole time that the animals us being tested on, they are in pain. Rats and mice have nervous systems very much like our own, this is why we use them, but is their nervous system is similar to ours then they should be able to feel pain, fear, joy and other emotions, so why are they not included in the Animals protection act. There were experiments conducted at UNC Chapel Hill and the University of Utah were mice and rats were given tumors and illnesses, then they drilled holes their skulls to examine the brain. Rats and mice were also forced to stand in a heated plate to see how long it takes them to respond to the heat. Rats and mice are just animals but they also have feelings as you and I do.
Another main reason to stop animal testing is because most of the time these “experiments” are just ways to torture animals. An animal that many people do not think of when the topic of animal testing comes up is the pig. We already kill millions of pigs for food each year and in addition thousands are used and tortured in testing. The US military uses many pigs for trauma- training. There is a PETA report on what the US military did to one pig "They shot him twice in the face with a 9-millimeter pistol, and then six times with an AK-47 and then twice with a 12-gauge shotgun. And then he was set on fire. I...
