I think that the biggest thing I learned was that some people actually think that it is ok to lie, cheat, and steal from other people. I knew that people took advantage of other people all the time, I just had no idea that some people could actually think that it is ok. Some people think that they are telling the truth simply because they have forced themselves to believe that they are telling the truth. I think that these people, though they may be very wealthy in worldly ways, are also the most miserable people in the world. They are miserable because they don't trust people, even the people who are closest to them and they feel horrible about what they've done, even if they don't understand the feeling because they are so far gone that they don't even know what a conscience is. The author of the paper Self-Evident Truths states that very well in Figure 2 where he says, "Observations about personal and others' experience regarding virtue and moral personal behavior recognize that virtue and morality are attributes to incorporate in a person's ethic, which results in greater trusting relationships between individuals, families and community. Society is benefited."I think that people in leadership positions need better training in their knowledge of ethics, virtue, morality, and integrity. Most people know the definitions of these words, but they don't really know where they fit into their lives. If we had better leaders, then we would have a better world in which to live. With the proper disposition and proper ideals, people would really be happier, no matter what their net worth is, and we would have a much better and orderly society.
