Voltaire and Kosinski’s literature works are two of the significant artistic work of the eighteenth and twentieth century. Although the artistic works were produced during different periods, they have strong basis of numerous human nature which demonstrates the human association. Flipping from one page to the next of the products of two shrewd authors, many related thematic issues are revealed including stupidity, foolishness, optimism among others. However, one of the most important themes espoused in the contents is that of “everything that happens in human life has a reason” (Voltaire, 1950).
Candide and Chance while as young children were much unfortunate that they lived not to enjoy the live. They found themselves caught in disparaging circumstance, where Chance growth was impeded whereas Candide was troubled with relationship. It was not accidental that they lived as strangers or family friends with people whom they did set trap on their life, but It was the bridge through which they would pass on to the outside worlds where their live would be raised to their blessings. Chance was retard and this affected his thinking ability as well as body size. His problems helped him to connect with old man, who was in need of a gardener. They either live symbiotically having a mutual existence. While the retarded Chance attended the Garden, the old man took care of him increasing his numbers friends to break his much lonely live by accompanying him physically and even through provision a television set.
The retarded Chance had to work in the garden in most of his time which he did without pushing until the death of the owner. The demise of the old man thus gave the retarded Chance the opportunity of inheriting the wealth of the old man. However, the envious attorneys ousted grabbing his inheritances unfairly.
Chance and Candide would dimly realize the goodness of many incidents in their life, including ousting out from the farm estate and the castle respectively. Candide encountered many life challenges. First and foremost, while he was obsessed with the love of Cunegonde, a handkerchief dropped down, this for him gave the opportunity to initiate his relationship. He took the opportunity to make a kiss to the one he had fallen in love, which consequently the master of the castle compelling him to flee. It was unhappy live to have been pushed from the enjoyable live as homeless, where numerous painful mistreatments would follow. The aftermaths of Candide throw out was followed by the mistreatment of whipping that were inflicted on him from the military thugs, but after all, he escaped not only the threatening arrests of the police in the castle, but this salvaged his life from forthcoming bloody killers who wiped out the whole family in the castles (Kosinski, 1999).
