Body FatThe human body is comprised of body fat and lean body tissue. Lean tissue is comprised of bone, muscle, and all the body's internal organs. Having a health body composition is important since a high body fat percentage heightens the risk of many different diseases and disorders throughout your lifetime. According to Mary Grosvenor obesity in adults can be linked to the following diseaseshigh blood pressure, heart disease, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, gallbladder disease, arthritis, sleep disorders, respiratory problems, menstrual irregularities, and cancers of the breast, uterus, prostate, and colon.The longer the person carries the added fat content the larger the risk for various diseases. A person who was overweight as a child into adulthood would be at a higher risk rate then someone who became obese after adulthood.At this point something like sixty eight percent of American are either obese (100 pounds overweight or more) or overweight (Grosvenor M.B, 2012). The exact cause of this rise in obesity in adults and children is still being debated what can be agreed on is that exercise and day to day lifestyles are the major causes of the problem. In years past the family unit was one where there was a person who took care of the home while the other partner worked. This meant that children were looked after by their parents and feed meals cooked at home. Today many houses have either two working parents or are a single parent home.
