People who are emotionally healthy are more efficient in controlling their behavior and emotions. This makes it easier for them to take on life’s daily challenges with strength and resilience, without experiencing depression and emotional breakdown. Lifestyle changes are essential in keeping the balance in our emotional health and it includes healthy eating, exercise and focusing on positive mindset. Regular exercise is not only essential for physical health, it can also benefit our emotional health by relieving stress, improving the mood and sharpening mental abilities. It is a simple breathing exercise that requires no equipment and can be done anywhere. It starts by placing one hand on the belly and the other hand in the chest. Inhale deeply and slowly, while mentally counting to 4 and then hold your breath for a count of 7. Breath out completely, while mentally counting to 8. Try to get all the air out at the end of 8 counts. Do this 3 to 7 times or until you feel relaxed and calm.
