1. What factors caused World War 1 to break out?
There were many reasons for the outbreak of world war one the main causes include Nationalism, militarism, alliances imperialism and the Balkan and morocco crises there were many other causes for world war one such as the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire Franz Ferdinand and the assassination of jean Jaures a French socialist considered as Europe’s last chance for peace in the build up to the first world war.
Nationalism was a main factor in the cause of the First World War. This was because most people in this period was very proud of their country as it was straight after the big industrial revolution in Europe this factor created tension between rival countries such as Germany Austria-Hungary and Russia this indirectly lead to the dual alliance between Germany and Austria-Hungary to protect themselves from Russia then 3 years later in 1881 the Austro-Serbian alliance was formed between Austria-Hungary and Serbia to stop Russia taking control of Serbia, Nationalism was a key factor in causes the Great war because it helped cause tension between nations which lead to alliances which was also a major cause of world war one ;
The alliances in Europe played a big role in the break out of world war one because if one nation declares war on another than the allies of the nations must help win the war, for example on august the 3rd 1914 Germany declares war on France Because of the triple entente of 1907 Britain had no choice but to help her allies and declare war on Germany and help France with their offensive plan XVII to push through eastern France to the German borders. This happened all through Europe countries were pulled into war because the allies were involved and by January 1915 it was total war after the German zeppelin air raid on Britain.
As well as all those causes there was more the Moroccan crisis. the first Moroccan crisis took place during 1905-1906 this was when 2 nations France and Germany both coveted morocco because of its mineral and agricultural wealth. And because of Britain’s Alliance with France Britain gave France a free hand in morocco Kaiser Wilhelm II became angry and then travelled to morocco offering protection from France if France should try to colonise Germany then called a conference to clarify the status of morocco which by international law was independent France settled this at the Algeciras conference this crisis was caused by another factor that helped cause world war one;
Imperialism it caused the Moroccan crisis because both France and Germany both wanted to expand their empire by colonizing morocco and using its natural commodities and Britain gave France permission to use morocco’s resources even though morocco...
