Being a fashion designer allows the opportunity to create clothes, go to fashion shows, and travel the world ("What They Do"). Looking on the out the outside, being a fashion designer seems all about glitz and glamour, but in reality that’s not all it takes to be one ("What They Do"). Being a designer is a challenging job ("What They Do"). Fashion designers design gratifying original garments, accessories, and footwear. They sketch designs, select fabrics and patterns, and manage the production process ("What They Do"). Designers are also involved in directing fashion shows, as well as advertising and marketing campaigns, and working with models, stylists, makeup artists, hairdressers, photographers and event planners to execute their vision and build their brand personality ("Fashion Designer Career Working Environment"). Being a fashion designer requires dedication in that there is a great deal of education but the job opportunities are vast and the work is demanding, and highly competitive ("Summary").
Before one may think of becoming a fashion designer, they shall take in consideration the education it takes to be a successful designer ("How to Become One"). Natural talent will only take you a great distance, but talent and education combined will have a greater chance of ensuring success ("Fashion Designer Career Working Environment"). The specific education that may be entailed by a future employer will differ depending on what exact necessities they expect to be done ("Fashion Designer Career Working Environment"). A high school diploma is a necessity for becoming a fashion designer. Courses such as art or graphic design, home economics, mathematics, chemistry and psychology are beneficial in the career of fashion design ("Fashion Designers"). A student may decide to attend a postsecondary school after completion of high school ("Fashion Designers"). Although, a postsecondary education is not required for fashion designers it is strongly suggested ("Fashion Designer Career Working Environment"). A bachelor’s degree in fashion design or fashion merchandising is what majority of fashion designers have ("How to Become One"). Although, an aspiring designer with a total fashion background that includes marketing and other business skills will be favored over a talented person with no knowledge of business procedures ("Fashion Designers").
