Flight Centre: keluarga, desa, dan sukuAgen travel Flight Centre dengan simbol merah dan putihnya telah menjadi pemandangan yang biasa kebanyakan pusat perbelanjaan di Australia dan terus meningkat di luar negeri. Berpusat di Brisbane, Flight Centre telah memiliki 800 toko di 6 negara (Australia, Selandia Baru, Afrika Selatan, Kanada, Britania dan Amerika Serikat). Telah tumbuh sebesar 20% pertahun selama dekade terakhir, menjadi salah satu perusahaan dengan pertumbuhan paling cepat di Australia, dan merupakan retil terbesar ke-empat. Saat pertama kali melihat, anda mungkin akan berpikir Flight Centre dikelola dengan cara yang sama dengan perusahaan besar lainnya. Tetapi, dengan hanya melihat ke toko - toko yang telah tersebar, sepertinya tidak. toko - toko itu kecil, dan hanya memiliki sedikit karyawan, dan hanya ada 1 - 2 toko di tiap blok perbelanjaan kota. tidak ada skala ekonomi dan birokrasi yang terpusat di sini. tetapi bukan hanya hal itu saja yang membuat Flight Centre berbeda.Struktur dari Flight Centre muncul dari keyakinan pendirinya, Graham Turner. di mengklaim setelah 200 tahun industrialisasi, orang-orang belum terbiasa untuk berkerja dalam kelompok kecil di dalam kelompok besar. Struktur dasar dari Flight Centre adalah dengan membuat 'keluarga" yang terdiri dari 3 sampai 7 orang yang ada di dalam tiap toko retail. Sebuah keluarga juga dapat berupa administratif atau tim kantor pusat, yang melakukan fungsi SDM, IT, atau marketing. Selanjutnya ada istilah "desa", desa ini terdiri dari tujuh sampai sepuluh "keluarga". Desa ini seperti sebuah departemen atau area.
