Fossil Record Vs Geological Column Essay

890 words - 4 pages

They are many ways that evolutionists use to describe the theory of evolution. One of those many ways is the fossil record. The fossil record is fossil record, history of life as documented by fossils, the remains or imprints of the organisms from earlier geological periods preserved in sedimentary rock.1
I shall begin by telling you what I believe. I do not think that the fossil record is of any help to evolution. I trust that the fossil record is, in fact, the greatest evidence against the evolutionary train of view.
When an evolutionary geologist or paleontologist is lecturing, he/she often uses terms as the Hadean, Achaean, Proterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras. ...view middle of the document...

The evolutionist has tried to create missing links to show that this truly happened. When in essence, they are just two bones from two different animals fused together by glue or some other substance.
So far I have stated that the fossil record is the biggest evidence against evolution because we do not have any missing links fossils. Next will be talking about how the fossil record is still more religion than science in an evolutionary mindset.
Francis bacon a great scientist who basically invented the basis of science created the scientific method which is observation, hypothesis and experimentation.3 With the fossil record, we cannot possibly use this method of science because we can't observe how it all began. We cannot make a hypothesis because it has already happened. We cannot make an experiment so massive enough to test how the world was created. So leading me to my second point we may be able to do some experimentation with fossils, but when it relates to evolution, we cannot truly test anything to be able to get plausible results. We can contain the atoms, but we can never be certain what the original amount of a component is. This method that evolutionist use is called radiometric dating. 4
Radiometric dating is any method of determining the age of earth materials or object of organic origin based on measurement of either short-lived elements or the amount of a long-lived radioactive element plus its decay product. 5
So let us review the fossil record when it pertains to evolution does not operate because we cannot observe, hypothesize,...

Gradualism Versus Punctuationism Essay

823 words - 3 pages Gradualism versus Punctuationism Although modern evolutionists are thought to be divided on the issues surrounding evolutionary theory, a close look at the evidence suggests that both the gradualist school of thought and the punctuationist school of thought share many characteristics in common. This is especially true when evaluating their beliefs about the fossil record, disagreement with the theory of saltation, and the misinterpretation of

2108 words - 8 pages autotrophic organisms would develop. These new organisms used the abundance of the sun to make their own food. The heterotrophic organisms would later feed on them. The oldest fossils are about 3.5 billion years old of these early bacteria-like creatures. The second major piece of evidence supporting the theory of evolution is the Fossil record. The earth's geological column is based on layers. Each layer represents a specific time period in the history

704 words - 3 pages and the other not. This does not run contrary to the theory of phyletic gradualism however. It is believed that a species can evolve using either or both of these methods. Both are supported by the fossil records and both are supported independently by the fossil record. During periods of gradual change the fossil record should include all stages of development from ancestor to new species over several layers in the record. During periods of

1382 words - 6 pages date. An absolute date is one in which you get an actual date in years. Also known as chronometric methods. Relative dates do not give an actual date in terms of years, but they tell you if one fossil is older or younger than another fossil. Ushally relative dates are given in terms of the column of earth they are found in. This is called striatigraphy. In sites like Olduvai gorge their are geological layers of vocanic ash and

Burying the Problem: Is Carbon Capture and Storage a Silver Bullet?

3150 words - 13 pages 1. IntroductionFossil fuels account for 85% of the global energy production (US Department of Energy, n.d.), and this continued reliance on fossil energy is contributing to large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. Science has shown that the increased levels of CO2 have become the dominant cause of climate change. Climate change experts have called for an 85% reduction is CO2 emissions by 2050 to avoid some of the more serious

Creation or Evolution: Evidence of the Fossil Record

1645 words - 7 pages Creation or evolution? This is a question that has plagued scientists ever since the age of Charles Darwin, the scientist who first introduced the idea of evolution back in the 1800s. However, as intelligent as Darwin may have been in his attempts to formulate the theory of evolution, the undeniable evidence of the fossil record appears to give the best support to one answer. What is the theory of evolution, one might ask? Today, evolution is the

Fossil Finds

Paleogeologist usually discovered fossils near the earth’s surface, “if a preserved

There was about 100 times more carbon present than the sensitivity of the instruments found in samples from even the lowest fossil bearing levels of the geologic record; samples that should be relatively carbon dead.
