The world is depended on oil and soon oil will become more valuable than gold and could lead to a worldwide war. Price for oil could soar to above two hundred fifty dollars per barrel. Oil and other fuel cell also cause green house gases which contribute to global warming. China is consuming two times more petroleum than 1996 and India is projected to consume three times the oil it currently does by 2050. Global house gas emission has increased by twenty percent from 2003 to 2006. Energy consumption has increased exponentially throughout the globe. The U.S. department of energy projects energy consumption will increase seventy percent from 2003 to 2030. The world has agreed to reduce emission by twenty five percent before 2020 and by over fifty percent before 2050. In order to meet this goal, we as a planet need to switch to renewable energy. Oil is not going to be able to produce the energy required by the planet. Last year the number of well oil increased fifteen percent, however oil production decreased by over seven percent. A world powered by renewable energy is not only possible but desperate needed to save the world, therefore we need to invest time and money to implement and research these options.
One of the most popular and recent alternate fuel is biofuel. Biofuels are created when sugar and starch found in many plants such as corn, soybean, sugar cane, and palm oil, are converted to alcohol such as ethanol, propanol and butanol. These alcohols are either used directly as fuel or more commonly used as extenders for other fuels. Another type of biofuel is created when fat or oil from plant or plant products goes through transesterification. Transesterfication is a process where ester from oil or fat is combined with alcohol to produce biodiesel.

Methane is commonly used as fuel for car, heating, cooking, and producing electricity.

They claim that if biofuel was produced in large quantity then agriculture would convert from food to fuel. According to the World Bank, over seventy five percent of the rises in food prices is directly caused by biofuel. Indonesia is the leading producer of palm oil, a major biofuel. In order to increase productivity, the people destroyed thousands of trees to plant palm tree. The destruction led to an increase in carbon production.
