As I have already said Wal-Mart and various other large-scale companies utilize welfare and entitlement programs to create a higher profit. That is both a disgusting business practice and unfair to the American taxpayer. These large businesses are running the country into the ground and no one is stopping them. Sadly, nothing is being done to stop these despicable actions. I have a proposed solution however, and one that I would like to share with the public. For this solution, I will be using the McDonald’s franchise as my targeted large-scale corporation that has the ability to pay healthcare benefits, but refuses to not do so and therefore believes it is the American taxpayers ...view middle of the document...

“Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program accounted for nearly $4 billion of the $7 billion figure.” McDonald’s receives approximately $1.2 billion of the $7 billion dollars in public assistance annually. Approximately 52% of fast food workers are on some type of public assistance. What makes matters more interesting is up to recently McDonald’s had what they called a McResource line to help their employees sign up for public assistance programs. Large corporations are actively helping their employees sign up for entitlement programs. From previous blogs that I have posted, McDonald’s is not the only large corporation that does this action. Wal-Mart is also a culprit in these actions. What these large corporations are doing however is not illegal.

Both McDonald's and Wal-Mart are engaging in perfectly legal behavior. The system was set up long ago in ways that failed to imagine companies doing this. Yes, they are taking advantage of the taxpayer, but they are also operating within the law.

“Currently, restaurant wages are more in tune with the needs of the many entry-level teens, students, and part-time workers traditionally employed in the industry.” In these days however, 68 percent of fast-food workers are single or married adults who aren’t in school. Out of the 68 percent, 26 percent are parents raising children. Many of these workers are part-time and had to resort to these jobs because of hard economic times and little opportunities for money. These jobs are what many people use as their primary money earning capability. Large Corporation, like McDonald’s are utilizing the American taxpayers money to subsidize healthcare for their employees, so they will not have to pay for it themselves.

My possible solution for this mess may be a little complex, but I believe it would bring about a greatly needed result. I suggest that businesses can hire whomever they want as part-time workers, but after 90 days these workers must be given...
