Geographical barriers are a barrier that may affect people if they live in a rural areas and need to get to urban areas for work or to see doctors or for medical reasons, this would be a barrier because it may take too much time in traveling or other issues for example there may be an event but there was an accident, this would affect the user for example to get to their destination on time without getting to late or going into trouble or for example missing out on a very important event that maybe there to help the users intellectual, emotional, physical and social.
The reason this affects the user’s intellectual knowledge because if there is an event or educational events that are held but the user can not get to the area then this would affect the user’s ability of gain knowledge and effect the users intellectual knowledge because they would miss the opportunity to gain knowledge because of the distance they would need to reach the destination. The way this barrier can be overcome if the service user can provide a webcam view of what is happening so the service users can watch and learn on line by using an extranet linked to the schools and colleges.
The way this would affect the user by emotion is because this would make them feel they can not be able to meet new people who this links into socializing and make them feel left out and unhappy in where they may be based and feel isolated from others because of the distance. The way the barrier can be overcome is by setting a time to suit all the service users instead of telling them what time they should be there at.
