George H. W. Bush became the 41st president of the United States of America on January 20, 1989 by succeeding Ronald Reagan. He promised to American that there will be no new taxes. In his Inaugural Address he pledged in "a moment rich with promise" to use American strength as "a force for good." During his presidency he past many bill such as Clean air act which focused on the things reducing urban smog, and curbing acid rain. The other act was the disabilities act, which illegal for employers and employees to discriminate against the disabled ones. In his presidency he had many difficult trials. One of his first hard trials was. Saddam Hussein invaded the city of Kuwait in August 1990. He was able to get Saddam Hussein out of the oil rich country. This is seen to be one of the greatest success during his presidential success. Even though, president job isn't a easy job it requires lots of skill and knowledge and you have to be able to understand what your people want's and how you can help them.
George H. W. Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts on June 12, 1924. Bush was born into a wealthy family. His parents were Prescott Sheldon Bush and Dorothy Walker Bush. His family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, when he was a young boy. Bush family was rich and his parents raised their children to be modest. Bush father was an investment banker who later became a republican senator from Connecticut, serving from 1952- 1963.("George Herbert Walker Bush pg, 20") As a teenager bush attend Philips Academy Andover, a boarding school in Massachusetts. Bush was also into sport a lot. when he was in academy he was a captain for baseball and soccer team. Bush graduated high school in 1942.
At age Eighteen Bush became the youngest pilot in Navy. Serving from 1942 to 1945, and he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He fought the japanese to fifty eight missions and he was shot down once. After the war, Bush went back to Yale University and earn his degree on economics and a phi beta kappa key. In 1945, Bush married Barbara Bush, a daughter of a magazine publisher. later they had six children. with his bride, he moved to Taxes instead of getting involve with his father investment banking business. In Texas he found his old company and by 1980 it was worth around $1.8 million.
Bush began his political career when he first became the republican party chairman in Harris County, Taxes. Bush had always been good to people as a chairman he was able to cultivate relationships in the Republican party which helped him throughout his political career.("George Herbert Walker Bush pg 14-15"). In 1964, Bush ran for a U.S. senate seat against Ralph Yarborough and lost to him. But that didn't stop him. later in 1966, Bush ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatvies from Houston's Seventh district. and he won the election with more than fifty percent of the vote.
