Global Climate Change Is Man Made Essay

956 words - 4 pages

Whether human beings are responsible for the global climate change has been debated for decades. The climate change is the long-term change of weather in decades to millions of years. Some people argued that the global climate change is part of the natural climate cycle of the Earth or is caused by the radiation and heat from the sun. However, United Nations has claimed that “Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes” (United Nations News Centre).
Many lines of evidence indicated that the global climate has been ...view middle of the document...

He identified one of carbon dioxide’s characteristics is infrared absorption, which allows atmosphere contain too much heat. Subsequently, the Earth will become a warmer planet (“The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse”). Greenhouse effect is that the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere increases through the capture of radiation that allows different to have current temperature. The four major greenhouse gases (GHGs) are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and ozone (Kiehl and Trenberth 204). Global warming was not originally started by the sun, but caused by human activities while increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases. The global warning has resulted in the reduced land carbon, a higher sea level, lower surface temperatures, and the release of glacial carbon dioxide. “Global GHG emissions due to human activities have grown since pre-industrial times, with an increase of 70% between 1970 and 2004” (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 36).
There are many lines of evidence indicating that human causes global climate change. Human has been increasing concentration of greenhouse gases. Burning coal or gas while driving, which effect the gas on Earth unbalance, can produce nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and other greenhouse gases, “the energy balance of the Earth as a whole is determined by the difference between incoming and outgoing energies at the top of the atmosphere” (National Research Council 184). Methane has increased because of agriculture, natural gas distribution and landfills. Ozone has increased by chemical reaction from industrialization release carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere. Chlorofluorocarbons is another greenhouse gas, which is common known as the refrigeration agents and other industrial processes that caused the stratospheric ozone depletion (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 1). Furthermore, when the greenhouse effect become stronger it will warm up...

Global Warming: Climate Change is Happening Now

1100 words - 4 pages I believe the world is being faced with a serious issue of global climate change due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process in the Earth's atmosphere that warms the planet. Without the greenhouse effect, on average, the Earth's surface would be about 60oF colder. The greenhouse effect occurs when visible light from the sun passes through the atmosphere and is absorbed by the Earth's surface. Some of that

global climate change war Essay

1037 words - 5 pages Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III claims that global climate change is the most imposing threat in the Pacific Ocean rather than military threats found from other countries. This piece of information from Admiral Locklear deserves the attention of the American people, because the Admiral is putting global climate change and its effects ahead of the safety of the American people from other military powers/threats. Admiral Locklear’s claim is flawed

Global Climate Change

1413 words - 6 pages The believed outcome of Global Climate Change(GCC) by many people is not a good one. However it will not be as bad as 40 foot swell in the sea level, huge thunder storms, or satanic hurricanes. Yes, the world is changing, and changing in ways that we have yet to fully understand. Many people do believe that the current trend of our planet's climate will inevitably end in the destruction of the earth as we know it and out of those people most

Global Climate Change

677 words - 3 pages Global Climate Change is not something to be ignored. According to research, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s 5th assessment last September 2013 reported that "The conclusions fundamentally are, the planet is warming," according to Graeme Stephens, Director of the Center for Climate Sciences at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. IPCC said that global warming is "unequivocal" and "Human influence on the climate system

Global Climate Change

607 words - 3 pages change. The cooling effects of volcanic eruptions, as seen in the second graph, may have been caused by tiny volcanic particles. The tiny volcanic particles, especially from the Pinatubo Mountains, obstruct solar radiation from reaching the earth, causing cooling effects. Looking at the second graph, the causes of global climate change have transformed significantly. The most interesting of them all is the effect of volcanic eruptions on

Global Climate Change - 738 words

738 words - 3 pages The Global Climate Change project has showed us the advantages and disadvantages of different energy industries and reform programs. Overall, I agree with the sub-committee’s proposal with there plan to make the world cleaner, starting with America’s energy sources. Even though I do agree overall with their plan, there are some slight adjustments I would make to the plan in a few of the industries that were discussed. The first energy

Global Warming: An Issue That is Man-Made?

1506 words - 7 pages globe is primarily man-made or natural due to the constantly changing research, unreliability of climate models, lack of research, and prior observations before the pre-satellite era. Climate models play a big role in the global warming debate, and the majority of them show rapid warming. However, those same models that are showing rapid warming in both short and long-term periods are already too warm. Over the last 100 years, the

Is Greenhouse Gas Emissions Responsible for the Global Climate Change

785 words - 4 pages 2. Introduction The aim of this report is to evaluate to what extent anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are responsible for recent global climate change (Karl and Trenberth, (2003), and to identify the main uncertainties associated with future climate modelling. These queries are firstly explored by analyzing the effects that natural causes such as solar volcanic eruptions and solar output have had on recent global climate. This is then

Global Warming: What is Global Warming, Causes of Global Warming, Consequences of Global Climate Change

1396 words - 6 pages Global WarmingWhat is Global Warming?Global Warming is described as the progressive gradual rise of the earth's surface temperature thought to be caused by the greenhouse effect and responsible for changes in global climate patterns. The greenhouse effect is the absorption of energy radiated from the Earth's surface by carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere, causing the atmosphere to become warmer. The greenhouse effect is what is

Man Made Global Warming, True?

Global Warming and Climate Change

2464 words - 10 pages Global Warming and Climate Change (missing works cited) Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide

Climate Change: Man Made Or Planetary Cycle?

2168 words - 9 pages up for the short coming mad has pressed upon the earth. Skeptics of the theory that mans interaction with the surrounding environment has change the climate, argue that these warming and cooling periods are part of a natural cycle which requires man to prepare and adapt to these environmental extremes. This view is mistaken and misleading as we can see an accelerated rate of change when we compare past natural processes to our current

Global Warming Is Causing Climate Change

534 words - 2 pages negative effects of global warming and climate change. Mass deforestation has destroyed many habitats and caused extinction or endangered many flora and fauna. For example, the kiwi is now a protected species because humans have destroyed their habitat through deforestation. Not only does deforestation destroy habitats, it also depletes the amount of trees that would absorb carbon dioxide. The oceans are the most threatened of ecosystems. The only
