Many people around the world suffer from illnesses that come along with being overweight or obese. There are many people out there that do not know they are overweight. These people do not know that the overweight they have can bring other consequences if left untreated. These people question themselves, "Why do I feel sick?", "Why do I never have energy?", If only they got informed, they would find out that the answer is in their hands. In today’s world and living style researches and studies show that more than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) are obese (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013). Overweigh is something that affects all races, nations, and colors can harm adults, children, both men and women of any culture. Overweight or obesity is just another illness that can be treated with self-discipline and power. These are some of the questions that we need to ask ourselves. What does overweight and obesity mean? What are the foods that are healthy and which are the ones that are unhealthy for us? What can we do to prevent and fight overweight-obesity?
Unhealthy Eating Habits
Unhealthy eating habits along with food is one of the most common factors among humans. Every single human is born with that hunger and the minute that the baby gets fed that is where his or her eating habits start to develop whether these are good or bad habits. Everyone's eating habits are different. The style of a person's eating habits can also depend on their race, ethnicity, background, and religion. Many people will ask "What are some of the things we should not be consuming every day?" Unhealthy food as we refer to it in America or as I sometimes call it comfort food are the things we should not be eating or consuming. These foods provide the body with no vitamins nor do they provide any nutrients that can help contribute to a healthy lifestyle, but what they do provide us with is laziness, sickness, and overweight. An example of junk foods are sugar foods like cookies, candies, ice-cream, and cereal. All of these foods only fill our body with fat, sugar, and calories that make us gain weight. It is a must that people are careful with their food selection and what they eat on a daily basis. Why should people not consume these foods?
While consuming unhealthy food people are putting themselves at risk for overweight and obesity. There are several terms for people that are above the weight that they should be according to their height, one of these terms is “obese”(National Institutes of Health, 2012) Millions of Americans and people worldwide are overweight or obese.
