Social networks are one of the most used communication methods of today's world. In this paper we analyze the possible effects of social media on both, individuals and the society as a whole. First we visualize the current situation of social media in terms of facts and public figures before we deepen selected aspects. With a specific study in neuroscience research findings the following main research question is to be answered: How does our brain deal with these new forms of information technologies and what are the possible consequences for our social behavior? How does this affect your children or yourself? There is a wide range of diverse interpretations related to the usefulness of social media as a powerful source of communication and learning, but like everything in the world, there are pros and cons to social media.

In modern times, people are interacting in many different ways, some by telephone, some by E-mail and some by chatting networks. Every day, people are using the computer to talk with one another, watch their favorite celebrities or rappers to influence their next move, and even to be people they just wish to be. Because society is communicating over the internet, it is much easier to develop and build old and new relationships. But, there are also some negative aspects of talking to people online that you do not know very well. While social networks like Facebook allow people to be more sociable and expand their relationships, this type of communication can have problems related to privacy and safety. The society we live in is full of followers and it’s sad to see the things that go on in modern day society.

Social Media is an interesting and fast way of communication. Most people usually talk to those they think are attractive or friendly enough to be a friend, but the side they don’t usually account for is if the person they are telling their life story to is not a predator. Everyone wants to be famous off social media by posting inappropriate things or posting the wrong things, just for likes. Not only can photos be stolen and used by strangers, but many photos, especially those taken by phones or devices with GPS technology, contain tags that reveal exactly where the photos were snapped.
