Placing the definition of "hero", into a narrow context and being able to say with confidence whether a person is or is not a hero has always been a problem. There are numerous ways to define hero, some people would call superman, or anyone with supernatural powers a hero. Hero is commonly defined as a person who can defy gravity and save the world, the dictionary calls a hero "a being of great strength and courage celebrated for bold exploits; often the offspring of a mortal and a god,". Superman is considered a hero by many people because he has outstanding powers and is constantly saving the world, although he risks nothing doing so. A hero can very well be anybody who does something great. However, there is an old saying, "great men don't do different things, but they do things differently". Anybody can be a considered a hero at anytime, real or fictional, with or without supernatural powers, and regardless of whether or not they save the day and defeat the bad guys. Its important to realize that it is not possible to win each and every time . Every person in the world has the capability of being a hero, but it takes many sacrifices.Mohandas K. Gandhi is the perfect example of a hero, it is amazing that he was the leader of one of the largest non-violent war in history. Gandhi was thrown in jail time after time, he never resorted to violence, but made a large impact on the world. Gandhi said that he was most influenced by his mother, whose life was an endless chain of fasts and vows. When Gandhi was younger, he secretly smoked, ate meat, and told lies, because of this he had an intense feeling of guilt. These feelings forced him to make resolutions about his moral behavior that were to stay with him for the rest of his life. That is his most heroic trait, changing his entire life style and going on to change the world. His philosophy was to never fight back against the atrocities, but still never retreat.
