In chemistry we learn about the elements that make up compounds and, we study them. In biology we learn about what makes up living things. These living things contain some of the elements we learn about in chemistry. The four most common elements found in living things are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. In chemistry I have learned that these four atoms can bond together to form different compounds such as water, carbon dioxide and ammonia. In biology I have learned that these all of these compounds have an effect on living things. With our knowledge of elements and compounds and our knowledge of the chemical processes we can take biochemistry to the extreme.
Before biochemistry became part of science we were not as powerful. We could not do a lot of the things we do today. Our deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) and our ribonucleic acid(RNA) are made of nucleotides. With our knowledge of this we can relate this to chemistry in an unbelievable way. A biochemist can use information from biology and information from chemistry to create medicines. Before we were able to do this we were more vulnerable to simple things. We did not have medicine to cure simple illnesses which could then spread and cause death. When a scientist used rubbing alcohol on a wound he took a huge step in the world of medicine. It was something done that could not have been done without biology or chemistry.
The four most common elements in living organisms are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. We can find these things everywhere. carbon is found in coal, diamonds, and carbon dioxide. These things are everywhere. Sugar contains carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, which is being made right now. The nitrogen cycle is happening right now in the soil under your feet. With all of these elements and compounds in this room and in our bodies we have been able to stretch the area of biochemistry. The natural resources have been on our side of this technology all throughout its existence.
We study photosynthesis and the nitrogen cycle. Both of which are happening at this very moment. All we have to do is walk outside to learn about these things. You can just look at your body or one of your pets and get a good look at the resources of which biochemistry requires. You can do a little bit of studying biochemical engineering just by making observations or studying what you do yourself. Biochemistry has all natural resources on its side.
Biology involves four types of molecules. These molecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Biochemists would study these to determine some of the effects they have on the human body. One way they could put it too use is in one of the biggest parts of biochemistry, the pharmaceutical industry. A biochemist in the pharmaceutical industry would have either a lab-based or a research-based job. These biochemists would have to do research on different illnesses or diseases and determine what is causing the illness or...
