My topic is about how holistic medicine is used. I became interested in this topic because all I knew about medicine was the modern western practices. As an occupation when I am older I would like to go into the medical field. This influenced me to want learn about what other medical treatments were used and then I learn what holistic medicine is. All I know about holistic medicine is that it is an alternative form of healing and incorporates the entire person. Also, I know that there are many different natural treatments that are incorporated into holistic remedies including acupuncture. Through my research I am planning on discovering what holistic medicine is, what holistic practitioners believe, what different treatments there are, what one must to do become a holistic specialist, and what the different factors that are included in holistic medicine.
My search process for the I Search was relatively easy and simple. The steps in finding useful resources and information were using key words to Google my topic and then finding whether or not the source is credible. After verifying that I could use the website, I read the entire article before going back and picking out captions to paraphrase and take notes on. Over the time of my research, my questions changed repeatedly in order to match the research and information I found. At the beginning of my process, I had trouble finding information the matched my questions, once I changed my questions to fit my research instead of the other way around. After fixing my thick and thin questions, my research was extremely easy to find and use. From this process I learned that although many sources are reliable, many on the internet are biased so I now know that I should check reliability before using the source.
The most useful sources were Holisticmedicine.org and "What is Holistic Medicine", WebMD.MedicalReferene. These sources were most useful to me because at the beginning of my research I had no idea what holistic medicine was and the two websites provided basic information that helped me understand and find more resources. Although neither of these sources had an author, I knew they were credible because both of the articles were from professional organizations and the information matched up with information from other sources. Another way that I knew these sources were credible was that the language was formally used and I understood it.
HolisticMedicine.org gave me many answers to both thick and thin questions including the principles about holistic medicine and what is needed to be done to become a holistic practitioner. "What is Holistic Medicine", WebMD.MedicalReference gave me informations on what holistic medicine is and what different types of treatments there are. Along with the internet, I tried to use other sources, but I could not find any source that was reliable. I found a book about holistic medicine, but after reading the first page, i realized...
