Hot Or Not? Essay

899 words - 4 pages

When I first decided to take this class I wasn't sure how I would like it or how good I would do in it because i have heard many things about it. At first, it was very, very hard class to take because we had to read Hamilton and I freaking hated it. Absolutely hated it. HATED IT. But after we were done with Hamilton and I really got the hang of doing packets I found out that it is not that horrible. On the plus side we do get to read some actually good stuff. Although we haven’t had many readings this semester my favorite ones would have to be The Odyssey, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
First, The Odyssey was one of my favorite readings because it was more a story that I could follow instead of a bunch of stories like Hamilton. I really, really hated my life when we had to read Hamilton. Literally hated my life. But, when we were reading The Odyssey it wasn't’t bad at all. I could actually follow the story and was surprisingly interesting. I enjoyed reading it a little and when we watched it that especially helped me understand it. The best part in The Odyssey is when he tells the giant his name is nohbdy. So then when they trick him he starts screaming, “Nohbdy, Nohbdy’s tricked me. Nohbdy’s ruined me!” The Cyclops, Line 358. I just love that because that is so clever and I think it’s hilarious. But, then again it doesn't have to be a very funny or good story to beat Hamilton. EVERYTHING beats Hamilton.
Next, The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was one of my favorite readings because its a classic and I’m a sucker for a love story. Seriously I was way excited to read this because I had always heard so many thing about it. Some people said it was a great love story and some said it was not a love story but some said it was just some stupid three day event were six people die and they don’t even end up together.I was very excited to get my own opinion of it. Now, after reading it I don’t care what other people say I think it is a really great love story. Then, after taking your lectures I completely see the pure genius of Shakespeare and understand why he is so famous and why we have to or should study him. I think my favorite lines out of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet would have to be the most famous one, “O Romeo, Romeo! ...
