Reminisce for a moment, on that one teacher throughout your educational spectrum from elementary school up until your highest educational acquirement, who influenced your teaching aptitudes through deliberate, critical examinations of your course work. As students, we often deplore the tendency to call these teachers out in aid of our errors, often pretermitting the purpose of their examinations—, which is to correct our mistakes. Even the most efficacious educators undergo constructive evaluations, not to corroborate their blunders, but to highlight those blunders, and re-approach them in diverse ways until they are mastered. Conversely, my collaborative learning team overlooked some simple errors that are vitally essential and cannot be omitted in the classroom.
Primitively, we could have included the audience more in the presentation. We were interactively engaged with our audience, but in the end, we were merely lecturing to our colleagues. The solution to this problem is to understand the different learning types of our various audience members, and using that imperative knowledge, deliver our presentation in a more effectual way—adjusting our volume, pitch, rate, inflections, pauses, vocal variety, pronunciation, articulation, dialect, personal appearance, movement, gestures, and our eye contact. In addition, we failed to question the audience about their enquiries regarding our presentation. We completely omitted the entire question and answer session, which was an enormous blunder that we have learned from. Subsequently, our visual aid was artistically innovative, as well as, imposing; but our font should have been larger to meet the various needs of our audience members and it is the professional way to deliver presentations. Lastly, we should have rehearsed our presentation and presented it extemporaneously; however, our presentation was more so impromptu. With the proper practice and preparation, our CoLT could have conveyed our presentation more effectively and more efficiently.
