Nearly everyone in the world wants to be a doctor due to that prodigious salary, but the steps necessary in order to become one can seem a bit tricky. How can a wacky curly headed girl at UT Austin pull this off? Her college days might be blended as she puts it, but it is obvious that her research and experiments have an exclusive part of her heart. Needless to say Lisa Rosen accomplished this goal with flying colors, and she now has a life that wouldn’t be traded for the world.

She would be in her living room having movie night and popcorn with her friends, playing board games, and having a little girl talk. Birds of a feather flock together, and the most exciting piece of their social lives included reality television with kettle popcorn. It’s not the norm for college student behavior, but she was on a mission to succeed. Friends were not the only ones that got a piece of her social picture. Lisa would go visit her lover while they were in a long distance relationship, and now they are happily married. Her counterpart helped her pass through her most challenging days. Although her social life wasn’t the most exciting as a college student, she made long lasting relationships at UT Austin that are still prominent in her life today. This peer support as she calls it essentially helped her make it through until she could finally walk across stage with those three stripes across the arms of her graduation robe, signifying her doctorate.
As Doctor Rosen looks back on her college years, she wonders about the choices and judgments she made twenty years ago. In all honesty, she wishes she would have gone into another branch of psychology, so she could do more applied research and not have such geographic constraints in her career.
