Life can be compared to an obstacle course wherein there is a series of challenging physical or mental obstacles an individual or team must surpass and in our life obstacles serves as the problems we encounter and the same also goes with poverty. Poverty is the deprivation of basic human needs like water, food, cloth and of course money. The social services receives the highest share of the national budget (Human Development and Poverty Reduction, 2013). One of the programs of the current administration is the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” which provides financial support to poor households listed in the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR).It takes time to know how to diminish poverty yet it is worth it. Eradicating extreme hunger, having a quality education, and taking care of environmental sustainability and health are the three possible ways to achieve development yet it will take years.

Afterwards, quality education should be taken care of. Poor children have a big disadvantage than those non-poor children and acquiring knowledge is one of them. President Benigno Aquino III said that “For the first three years of our term, we focused on Conditional Cash Transfer Program. Stay in school, see the doctor, be our partners in health and learning and we will lend you a helping hand (Human Development and Poverty Reduction, 2013).” The government closed the gap between the classrooms and raised their budgets from primary all the way to tertiary levels. The president also signed the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, which will provide sufficient time for the mastery of concepts and skills, thus developing lifelong learners.
Then, we should focus on environmental sustainability and health. All of us must take action in protecting the nature and preserve its capability to support life. Environmental sustainability always comes with health. On June 19, 2013, President Aquino signed RA 10606 (An Act Amending the National Health Insurance Act of 1995), which mandates the provision of comprehensive health care services to all Filipinos, through a socialized health insurance program that will prioritize the health care needs of the underprivileged, sick, elderly, persons with disabilities, women and children; free health care services are provided to indigents (Human Development and Poverty Reduction, 2013).
These three steps can make a big difference on eliminating poverty in the world. These are considered as investments for the human capital which will make the person economically productive. The proceeding steps will surely end the misery the people are in now. All of us, especially the rich people, can also help the poor by giving donations to some foundations. As for now, we are aware that the government plays a big role in the improvement of the economy. Citizens should not lose hope because in the coming years we can end poverty and change the world for the better.
