How to buy a home – a step by step guide
If you’re reading this article, you’re likely considering purchasing a new home, whether it’s a suburban house or a central apartment. In either case, we’ve got you covered, and we’ll be showing you how to begin looking for a new home, what things you should consider, as we’ll be generally making the sometimes complicated task of home purchasing a little bit easier. Let’s begin.
1. ) Do you actually need a new home?
Before even starting the home searching process, you need to correctly asses if you’re ready to buy a new home and move or not. Sometimes, staying put and investing a bit into your current home can make more sense. Given the precarious situation of the global and national economy, it’s often safer and more accessible to keep renting. However, if you’re really fed up with the noisy neighbors, the impossibly landlord or you’re simply ready to take the next step and become a home owner, read on.
2. ) Where do you want to live?
People move for various reasons. They need a change in the environment, they are getting new jobs in different cities, they can afford a better neighborhood, they need facilitated access to certain schools or institutions, they want to cut back on expenses, and various other reasons. What are your motivations behind the search of a new home? Where do you want to live?
Ask yourself these questions, as you need to first decide where exactly do you want to live. Every area has advantages and disadvantages. Big cities are usually more costly, but grant access to more jobs, provide a bigger diversity in terms of recreational activities or come with the added benefit of great educational possibilities for your children. Smaller towns or cities however provide a generally quieter and less stressful environment.
Are you looking for some peace and quiet? Suburban neighborhoods are better suited for you in this case, but keep in mind that these areas usually come in the same package with issues such as traffic jams. In contrast, areas closer to town or city centers are surrounded by an active night-life scene, so if you’re in your twenties, these might be a better fit. If you’re planning on moving to a different city, consider reading up on the advantages and disadvantages each community comes with. There are some great charts out there, showing off some of the best places to live currently, based on resident feedback.
It all comes down to what your priorities are, and choosing the right place to live is the first and one of the most important steps you need to take when purchasing a new house.

3. ) Learn the market
Now that you know where you want to live, it’s time to do some serious research on the prices and fluctuations of the respective market and area. Buying a house is not the same as getting groceries on a Sunday afternoon. You need to do extensive research to get a good deal. The time spent looking up prices can save you thousands of dollars and ensure that your house...
