How To Wash Your Car At Home

702 words - 3 pages

Although some people are intimidated by the concept of washing their own vehicles, washing a car can be a fun and rewarding experience. Knowing a few strategies before attempting such a project can be greatly beneficial. By following a few simple tips, you can learn how to wash your car at home.

Your first step is to assemble all of the things you need to wash your car properly. Items to have available include car soap, water, a squeegee, glass cleaner, paper towels, a big bucket, and a hose with a powerful nozzle. You will also need a large sponge, a scrub brush with bristles, and a large, soft cloth that is highly absorbent. Additional useful items include specific soaps and cleaners for wheels and tires, leather, and interior upholstery materials other than leather. To clean the interior of the vehicle, you will also need a vacuum cleaner or a broom and dustpan.

Once you have all of the implements you need assembled and organized, you can begin your project. You may want to begin by cleaning the wheels and tires. If you clean those parts first, you can prevent the dirt that accumulates in those areas from interfering with the cleaning of the other parts of the car. Because tires may spin fairly easily when they are being cleaned, dirt can fly off of them and onto the other parts of the vehicle, so cleaning the wheels and tires first is a sensible strategy. To clean them, you can use a spray cleaner that is made specifically for the materials from which the wheels and tires are made. A cloth or sponge can help to apply the soap where it is needed, and a small brush may be useful for areas that are difficult to reach. Once you have worked the cleaner onto the surface, using a hose is the best way to rinse all of the soap off of the wheels, tires and rims.

After you have cleaned the tires and wheels, the next area to clean is the exterior body of the vehicle. You...
