But man, there’s not a boundary line to art.” Therefore, don’t expect after reading this article that you are going to be able to create millionaires-hits-songs, but take this as the first step in your long way to create a well-produced Bachata. The genre of Bachata was originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. Jose Manuel Calderon is known as having recorded the first Bachata single, “Borracho de Amor” meaning “Drunk of Love” The lyrics of Bachata used to be very specific for heart-broken lovers. I suggest you to do a listening assignment, before you start the process. Artist like Anthony Santos, Aventura, Romero Santos, Frank Reyes and Hector Acosta are good to explore the Bachata genre. Also, it is good to know that I am going to talk about recording and mixing process, which are some of the terms used in this area will be explain as needed. I’m going to explain how to properly write record and produce a Bachata song. In order to successfully create a Bachata, a good catchy lyrics is needed, a danceable-Bachata-style music, record all instruments properly, mixing and editing, and mastering.
First of all, the lyrics of a Bachata must be extremely romantic, or extremely party-able. You need to create emotions that can reach the audience, because it is crucial for your song that they want to repeat it all over again. In order to write good lyrics, you need to remember the worst moment of your life with a girl or the opposite. For example, if someone cheated on you, you can express your feelings with a song. This should not be true all the time, because you can always create false feelings. On the other hand, a good experience that you had with someone is good also because you need your audience to identify themselves with your lyrics. The point is that you need something very interesting and extraordinary in your song. A simple structure of a song is verse, chorus, bridge, second verse and second chorus. This is not the exact or the correct way to do it, but it is one of the most used structures of Bachata. In music you can always be creative, and do whatever you understand is good. Write it down in a rhyme-able and melodically form. Rhyme-able means that you want words that sound good with other words. The secret of write lyrics for a song is the rhymes. The melodically form means that it’s not a poem, it has to be sing-able. It is a good advantage, if you know how play any instruments. This is the very beginning of your song. You can apply this method in any kind of genres that you desire. After you write it down, it’s done. Now, you need the music that will accompany your lyrics all over the song.
