I believe that I have numerous skills that have allowed me to excel in school but I have my flaws, as does everyone. I have been told many times, “It’s not how smart you are, but how you’re smart.” I find this to be quite true, but I don’t believe it to mean that you cannot learn to become smarter in different areas. I have hopes that the IB/ALP program will do many things to help me further succeed beyond what I could expect, by helping me achieve my goals, work towards ameliorating in my weaknesses, heighten my potential, and open new possibilities for me that I couldn’t believe possible. The IB/ALP Program is a good fit for me as I am a thinker and as I am open-minded as per how they are defined. Though, as an area for improvement, I believe that I must work towards becoming a risk-taker to allow myself to increase my calibre.
I am very interested in different languages and cultures. I find it very interesting how many different people across the world have developed a language of their own and how different some languages truly can be. I am fascinating by how different sentence structures were created and thereby, also the etymology of words in not only English, but in various languages. As a result of my fondness of languages, I have been able to learn English, French, Hindi, and Punjabi. Though, I have also been studying Japanese since the age of 9 and I have also started to learn Spanish since last summer. It was this passion and the support from my encouraging teachers that had allowed me to excel in the French Immersion Program.

The definition of a thinker reflects me, because, as I develop my opinion over an issue or problem, I analyze the issue by visualizing and understanding the issue at hand through the many perspectives available and thereby, using such available resources to form and state my opinion reasonably, ethically, and justifyingly. I find that being a thinker is an important characteristic to have as it allows you to properly analyze any situation, as it is defined, critically, where the topic is analyzed using facts, and creatively by opinion and belief. Being a thinker allows you to judge a person’s opinion based on their arguments for their opinion which is a point strongly related to my next paragraph. This characteristic allows you to judge one’s opinion by reflecting on if the arguments are better than the arguments you have for your opinion.
I also strongly believe that I am open-minded as I am open to many new possibilities and...
