Ice Packs and Hot Packs
There are several different forms of therapy from Physical therapy, occupational therapy and even pet therapy. Another form of therapy is cold and hot therapy. Cold and hot therapy can be very effective in reducing inflammation and speeding up the healing process in injures. Hot and cold packs both end in the same result, they both reduce pain and stimulate the release of endorphins.

Cold packs should be used on acute trauma or soft tissue injuries, including strains and sprains post stop pain, and emergent treatment of minor burns. Cold packs should not be used for people who are cold intolerance, cryotherpy- induced neuropraxia/axontmesis, cryoglobulinemia, cold hypersensitivity, Raynaud’s disease/ phenomenon. Ice is especially very effective for the knee and joints. The acronym R.I.C.E. is very effective for injuries because it consist of rest, ice, compression and elevation. Not everyone should use ice. Those who have ischemia or impaired blood flow could get worse if they use ice, therefore heat is highly recommended. When you are using an ice pack you should never put the ice pack directly to your skin because it can cause frostbite or burn your skin. Another way you can ice is by using a frozen juice that is still in its can. Ice packs can also be very useful for in reducing fevers. When your body temperature reaches above 100 farinheight using ice can take the high body temperature to a normal temperature. In addition to the above stated methods, cold packs are used for are reducing hot flashes for women. Hot flashes are very common in women who are going through menopause. Cold packs can be used for several different things but mostly in reducing inflammation in injuries.
