Ebenstein stated that, “If communism is the first rebellion against liberalism, so fascism is the second rebellion.” Fascism appeared as a political ideology since the beginning of World War II brought by Benito Mussolini as the first pioneer from Italy. He believed that the state interests take precedence over other interests. By this definition, a fascism state was oriented to radical, authoritarian and nationalist. It honors to the absolute power without democracy. Citizen does not have any rights to express their mind because the decision is purely taken by the Government.
Leader of fascism state was chosen from the elite class. They believed elite class knew the needs of people in the state than the people itself. They did anything that they want in order to the importance of the state. So the citizen should sacrifice to accomplish it.Basically, the state which followed this ideology was rich and advanced in technology, such as Italy (1922), Germany (1933), Spain (1936) and Japan in the beginning of 1930s. Thoughts of this ideology were incorporated in Mussolini’s book, Doktrine of Fascism and Hitler’s book Mein Kampft.
Fascism happened because of the disappointment and depressed feeling of people in the country based on the experience before. Such as in Italy, people were disappointed of the demands in Versailles, Treaty are not met, even they won in World War I. By this condition, they felt the responsibility as the citizen of their country which called nationalism. By the leadership of Mussolini, he invited the citizens to come up and focus on them to have the same enemy and the way to defeat them is only by war.
Germany also followed this ideology by the pioneer, Adolf Hitler. In this case, fascism which was based on the importance of state or nationalism became branched with the ideology of Nazism. This branch was not only focused on nationalism, but also in racialism. Hitler exploited the issue of the best race against other to rise up the spirit of German people which were disappointed because of their failure in World War I. He made a huge holocaust by Jewish in Germany as the victims. At this time, he influenced the Arya race as the pure and best race in Germany to destroy other races which they believed are lower than them and should disappear from the state. The disabled people and unsuitable standard of Arya race were also killed because they could affect the evolution of Arya race.
By these examples of fascism application in state and the leadership of its leader, fascism ideology could easily be accepted by citizens because their approach in assembling the same feeling and expression. Furthermore, fascism could enter all levels in society. The role of leader as the decision taker and controlling all the system in some aspect of the state, made this state organized centrally.
