Should the driving age be raised to 18 has become a hot topic here in the United States. There are those who are against it, and those who are for it. Those who are for it have 4 major reasons why it should be raised to the age 18.I agree, the driving age should be raised to 18. The primary issue why it should be raised is mostly based on accidents that have happened. Most accidents are caused by 15-to-17 -years-old drivers. About a third of those deaths were the teen drivers themselves. According to an article by John D'Amico on www.TheNewYorkTimesUpfront.com , titled "Should the driving age be raised to 18?" Mr. D'Amico States that "After a terrible accident on Dec 29, 2005 four teenage boys from Chicago were killed , in a terrible car accident. Between 1995 and 2004, there were 30,917 fatalities in accidents that involved 15-to-17-year-old drivers. According to a study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. About a third of those deaths were the teen drivers themselves. The rest were pedestrians, passengers, and people in cars that teenage drivers struck.
