Research Design (Methods and Methodology)
This topic is to a large extent exploratory and as such descriptive survey design will be used to investigate the impact of global financial crisis on Gulf area and to GCC in particular. It is worth noting that descriptive survey designs is most preferred in exploratory and preliminary studies since it gives provision to gather the relevant information, summarize, analyze, and interpret the data to enhance clarification. Descriptive survey will be useful in coming up with statistical information on the impact of global crisis on Gulf area markets. The information will be relevant to policy makers as well as future researchers who can use the materials gathered to enhance future policy making and researches respectively. The study will involve a broad category of people to form part of the study population. This means that, this study falls within the cross-sectional sub-types of descriptive survey study designs.
To this end, it is already clear that the global financial crisis of 2007 to 2009 had some impact of the Gulf region. This is the study problem. As such, by use of descriptive survey, it will be possible to determine the nature and the extent of the impact in Gulf region.
Data Collection and Analysis
This study will utilize both secondary and primary research methodology as discussed herein. With regard to primary research, much of the information that is essential in carrying out this study is readily available. It should be appreciated from the outset that the 2007 to 2009 global financial crisis is a major theme that is highly discussed by the general public, scholars, researchers, student fraternity and even political leaders. This by extension means that information on this topic is available by simply tracing various electronic sources for the massive debates, forums, arguments and discussions. Additionally, various media reports addressing the subject of the global financial crisis in general, and that which lay emphasis on its impact on the Gulf region is one of the methodology that can be used to gather information on this subject matter.
