The study attempts to determine whether the rumors have any effect on the prices of various stocks, which have some direct or indirect relationship with the particular stocks. The Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad stock exchange were observed for this research. The data was collected through interviews and questionnaires, which collected responses from different brokers and investors who actively participate in trading activities at the LSE, KSE and ISE. Applying qualitative analysis and various statistical tools on the collected data revealed that rumors do have some effect on the stock prices. The magnitude of the effect is varied and can be either positive or negative. Results also indicate that stock prices of different industries respond differently to the different rumors in the marketplace.
