Impeachment is when “the president, vice president, and all civil officer of the United States is guilty of conviction, treason, bribery, or other high crimes or misdemeanors.” (http://www.bluedogs.us/impeachment.htm) as stated in Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution. The Impeachment Article added to the U.S Constitution was created during the 17th century by the Constitutional Convention. By creating this article the American people saw the usage of impeachment primarily during the impeachment of Nixon.
Four hundred years after the impeachment process was created in England it was adopted by the United States and soon after added to the United States Constitution by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
