When did the event occur?
It occur in 1957 Before colonization, was the home of Ghana Ashanti Empire, a branch of the Akan language of the people .During the 17 century, the country launched a campaign to strengthen most of the current around Ghana. Under the leadership of Osei Tutu, military and political power merged with religious influences. One of the main factors in the success of Ashanti Empire was the fact that all the lands conquered by force allowed them to maintain their government and customs. By the 1820s, the empire reached its peak in terms of size and power and began to negotiate with European traders, as well as other African powers such as the Ewe peoples Finder.

In his inaugural speech Nkrumah proclaimed "socialist, Marxist and Christian” and vowed to fight imperialism. Scored a victory of great historical significance when the 6 March 1957 Ghana was the first African colony to gain independence.
Popularly known as the “Osagyefo”, Nkrumah madly defended the anti-colonial cause the continent and began a process of internal transformation based on basic industrialization agrarian revolution and socialist education.
Who caused this event to happen?
Ghana was the first black African country to become independent.
In 1960, Nkrumah declared Ghana a republic and himself president for life in 1964. He banned all opposition parties.
He was deposed in 1966 by a military coup while on a trip to Peking. He later died in exile in Romania in 1972.
There followed a period of unstable government with one coup after another, culminating in 1992 in a referendum on a multiparty system. Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings, who had already led two coups against the government, was elected president.
His supporters credit him with stabilising a turbulent political scene and leaving a legacy of democracy.
He retired in 2000 and President John Kufuor was elected

After the independence, there was a new law that anyone that was suspected working against the state was arrested and punished to 5 years with no sentence (1958).

How has this event changed the world or the place in which it happened?
In 1964 Nkrumah suspends democracy by suspending the constitution. Ghana is now one party state and Nkrumah becomes a dictator his now criticized by the west, Nkrumah turns to the Soviet Union and other communist countries. The economy and population are getting very bad. Nkrumah is a popular leader but not anymore because of demonstrations and arresting anyone in opposition.
