Infertility is a very common thing. Infertility can affect your emotions. Both men and women can be infertile. You may have some questions such as, how is infertility caused or how is it treated?
In women, infertility is one of the most common causes of women not being able to conceive. 30% of infertility problems are a cause of ovulation disorders. Luckily, 70% of these problems can be treated with drugs like; Clomiphene and Menogan/ Repronex. The causes of infertility can be categorized as the following: hormonal problems, scarred ovaries, premature menopause, and follicle problems.
Some hormonal problems you can have are failing to produce mature eggs, malfunctioning hypothalamus, and malfunctioning pituitary gland. When your body fails to produce mature eggs, it is almost impossible for your egg to be fertilized. The most common disorder for this problem is known as Polycystic ovary syndrome. This syndrome is caused by a reduced production of FSH and a normal or an increased level of LH, estrogen and testosterone. Also an increase in estrogen levels can raise the risks of a woman developing breast cancer.
The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that sends signals to the pituitary gland. Once these signals are sent, it sends hormonal stimuli to your ovaries in the form of FSH and LH. This causes eggs to mature. If your hypothalamus fails to trigger and control the process, the result of this will be immature eggs. This is the cause of 20% of your ovaries failing.
Your pituitary gland is responsible for producing and secreting FSH and LH. If there is too much or too little FSH and LH, then the ovaries will not be able to function properly. This can happen as a result of physical injury, a tumor, or if you have a chemical imbalance in the pituitary.
When your ovaries are scarred, this can cause ovulation to fail. If a woman has multiple surgeries on her ovaries, it can cause ovulation to fail. If a woman has ovarian cysts that are constantly reoccurring, this can cause the capsule of the ovary to become scarred or damaged. The follicles don't mature properly and ovulation does not occur. If a woman has a serious infection, this could also affect a woman's ovulation.
Premature menopause is very rare and plays an unexplainable roll in infertility. When women begin menopause earlier then normal, the cause of this could be because their body uses up all of the eggs in the body before the body gets to the normal age of menopause. Mot women who begin menopause early are athletes who have a very long history of low body weight and where they exercise extensively. Premature menopause can also be caused by genetics.
Unruptured follicle syndrome occurs in women who produce a normal follicle that has an egg in it. With this, every month the follicle fails to rupture. When it fails to...
