This report will outline the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) today, summarize how it impacts life and compare the advantages and disadvantages of ICT today.
This report will be done by doing a small literature review.

82% of the Irish population have some form of internet access, and with a population of 4.588 million , 5.5m mobile phone subscriptions according to latest figures, not counting pre-pay phones. That is 119 subscriptions per 100 people; a figure higher than that of China.

• Spelling and grammar: Due to the use abbreviations and slang during text messaging, young people and children find themselves unable to write using proper spelling and grammar. The ability to spell check documents causes a loss of incentive to learn.
• No “wow”-factor: Society takes everything in stride; few things are amazing. Everything can be manipulated on a computer
• Isolation: Due to the decline in personal interaction, isolation, perpetuated by technology, causes a decline in empathy with family, friends and acquaintances enduring hardship. (Zaki, 2010)
• Addiction: Internet and game addiction.
More than four hundred years passed between the invention of the printing press, before there was even a single book in every house, and many years more before people freely had access to books; society had a very long time to adapt to the changes and the idea that everyone can have access to books.
