Shiny Pokémon are very rare, even in the terms of how often Pokémon are in the games. Statistically, the chance for a different colored Trophy Pokémon is about 1/4096, but that probability can be increased. There are three main ways to increase your chances of getting this prize, and they are actually not that difficult. One way is to use a Pokéradar, and encounter the same Pokémon over and over until it is a Shiny. Another way is using a new mechanic in the game, called Chain Fishing. This uses the fact that fish Pokémon congregate around walls and big rocks, and allows you to ‘thin the herd’, and get the elusive shiny. The last way is to use the Masuda Method, which encourages interaction with other Trainers. The method is to use a Pokémon from a different country than yours, then use it in the Daycare, which will triple your chances of obtaining a Shiny from your egg.
The Pokéradar is used to encounter the same Pokémon over and over again in a general area. It takes 50 steps to charge up, and when you use it, grass will start to shake. I recommend using a Max Repel, which will decrease the chance of a Pokémon you don’t want showing up by a fair amount. You go into the grass, and keep fighting the Pokémon. You continue the chain by going into the shaking grass, and by never running, skating, or using your bike. The chances really shoot up after about 40 encounters, so you have to be patient.
The second method you can use to catch Shiny Pokémon is a fairly new method that is rather easy. All you have to do is obtain a fishing rod, and find a place in a river, pond, or ocean to fish next to a rock. I recommend finding a Pokémon with the Ability Suction Cups, which makes every time you fish a success. Before you start, you will need several things, though. You will probably need a lot of Ultra Balls, which are the best Pokéballs that you can purchase. You will also need some healing items and Full Heals if your Pokémon happen to get...
