Instructional System Design For Human Factors For Maintenance And Inspections

Performance Objectives: At the end of this training the learner will be able to:
1. Explain the regulatory requirements in human factors training according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA), Transport Canada, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia, and other National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
2. Describe the four components of the PEAR model as they apply to human factors in maintenance and inspection.
3. Identify the categories of factors that contribute to human error by using the PEAR model concept.
4. Explain the 12 common human factors known as "The Dirty Dozen" by listing an example of each factor as it relates to a maintenance error.
5. Explain the importance of risk management in human errors using the Boeing Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) and Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP).
The framework for instructional environment will be the course outline for the instructor to follow and keep the learners focus and motivated. The outline will direct the knowledge to learn, the method on how to learn it, the strategy content, and evaluation model for assessing the learners retention of the instructional material. This will ensure the orientation delivery of instruction is explicit and measurable, content learning, critical thinking, and retention of knowledge. This will actively engage the learners in the learning process and enable the interaction between the instructor and learner through dialogue, group discussion, problem-solving, and team learning.
The framework will give the instructor the flexibility to change instructional strategy delivery methods from direct, indirect, interaction, facilitation, and role playing in the classroom. The instructional materials course outline is as follows:
