INTRODUCTION
This document, being the first submitted assignment in the course “integrated organisational
communication” is structured to show my basic understanding of the key concepts, namely: Types of
Communication; The purpose of Strategy and the core philosophy of why an integrated attitude
towards organisational communication is needed. By answering the questions, and providing my
own insights, I will show the assessor that I have successfully gained a basic understanding of the
subject matter at hand.

1.1. Business Communication
Business Communication can best be defined as communication that is used to get a specific
business objective. The communication is therefore conscious and intentional. This therefore
implies that the major emphasis for business communication is on skills orientation. While the
core learnings are technical, the emphasis is very much on the skills required to be learnt in
order to effectively use this method of communication

Management Communication is the newest field in organisational communication. It is defined
as management’s use, adaption and creation of languages, symbols, signs for the professional
